The Ordinary

For all you Beauty Enthusiasts - Our very own Cult favourite The Ordinary is finally here. A lot of people were waiting for this Canadian brand to launch in India & thanks to Elca Cosmetics we are now getting it online. I already had a day cream and night cream as a part of my skin care ritual (although I was not able to take care of my skin since long and even now I’m treading on eggshells, I’ll have to take baby steps due to health issues) I’m happy with my products as in the day & night moisturisers + a face wash + face mask + scrubber + two types of lip balms + face polisher + my holy grail which I use as an eye cream, it was only for 650 when I was 16-17 and now it’s for 1100/- anyway I came across that product serendipitously while I was on a trip and I had to make an impulse purchase ‘cuz I left something from Chanel at home…

Anyway, coming back to present times, I needed a serum but after having so many products in my daily routine (none of them are from the drugstore category) I couldn’t afford one… well I’m finally glad they started The Ordinary in India, this niche brand is indeed for ordinary people who can’t afford spending a fortune on skincare products which have to be replenished time & again :/ and so far I’ve been in love with all my purchases from here, I do plan to stick to my regular stuff but I’ll be adding these three to optimise my skin’s overall health, starting with their Moisturiser - It makes the skin very soft and supple, it absorbs very quickly, it’s also non sticky and non greasy which makes it ideal for layering if you are wearing matte/velvety matte makeup, it’s great for those with sensitive skin like mine because it has a very light fragrance and I just love how it smells, it’s so beautiful, I don’t know how to describe it… as per my “olfactive senses” it’s somewhere between Baby Powder and Vanilla like with a hint of cotton although I’m not sure of the exact notes but it’s a must try and must have. The only con is - this moisturiser is available in a mini 30 ml tube and it felt like it hardly weighed anything which was a bummer. I really hope it doesn’t happen again… I’ll be using it with matte makeup and also if I’m in the mood for something extra gentle & nicely scented.

Next - the Serum, I opted for their 2% Hyaluronic Acid + B5

I love products which can naturally infuse your skin with collagen and also boost its own capacity to build it further and trust me I have plenty of products which can do that, I mostly buy things which are healthy and nourishing for my skin because who doesn’t like that shiny Botox effect or fillers (things which make your skin plump and glazed like a porcelain doll) I like relying on skin care products which are at hand, easily accessible and which promise more longevity than injections, the problem with the latter is they melt away and either they move about under the surface of your skin and get redistributed giving it a misshapen look or they just pull, stretch & then wear off which takes a toll on your skin’s overall elasticity… Hence I prefer skincare products which would give me the same result without having to make an appointment, I always collect things which could plump my skin, especially my high cheekbones and make my eyes smaller like Native Americans, who doesn’t like that? This serum is also known for making your skin more hydrated and naturally plump and I did a small patch test on my hand first, not near the elbow but on the top of my hand above the wrist and I noticed a slight difference, it makes the skin softer that’s for sure, it also plumps it and makes it healthier because I felt that my skin was looking comparatively brighter and fairer after a few hours, it’s water based and hence it is on the stickier side like most other serums (not as much as Chanel’s Hydra Beauty serum if you’ve used that) it’s easy to apply and it hardly has any scent so it’s again ideal for sensitive skin, I didn’t notice any rashes or itching so far and I’ll be using this to prep my skin everyday which would be followed with a moisturiser (as and when I’m fine owing to my current health condition)

100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose seed oil - Well I was waiting for this since long because I really wanted one, I have it in my other products and so far it’s always been nourishing, it has never given me any breakouts so I was looking for an organic cold pressed version to use it with face rollers or for that natural “dewy glow” This happened long back (when I used to go out) I was once in the elevator and it halted for another guy from my building, he too was wearing loads of moisturiser and when he saw me with an equally glowing face, his own face lit up even more - most of us from Gen Z are crazy about that glazed porcelain look, apart from that Rose seed oil can also prevent Photo Ageing… Photo Ageing or Premature Ageing is triggered by something which is rather unavoidable in today’s generation and that is - our phones (and all kinds of gadgets) which definitely increase the pace and make everything faster in fact so fast that they can make us old before time thanks to the UV rays which they emit therefore I feel this product will again become a recurring part of my daily ritual and I’ll be using it regularly.
